You may not like it, but ads drive the internet. It may clutter the experience, but it pays the bills. The next time you surf, take notice of all the banners and display ads and how they are weaved into everything. Then ask yourself if the products in those ads were interesting to you, or would you prefer to see ads about things you’re passionate about buying like, for example, video games. Well, a lot of people feel the same way, so why not show them ads for YOUR video game!?!
You already have the assets to make the banners, and you have a place to send the clicks. Now you just need to decide how much to spend, how to buy, and where to buy. In terms of how to buy, you could pay for a bucket of random impressions or you could pay for targeted impressions in targeted locations based on the audience analysis you did. Better yet, you could buy targeted impressions but pay on a CPC (cost-per-click) or CPA (cost-per-acquisition) basis. And if you can find a CPA rate below your ARPU, then you’ll be printing money.
